The Trolley Rides in Boston

6 05 2014

We called it “the trolley” when we lived in Boston in the ’70s and I was happy to see that it is still called that where the “subway” becomes a “streetcar“.  MBTA or “the T” as it’s commonly called was our major means of transport on our recent visit to Boston.

As was the case in the ’70s, it still often gets delayed as though there is no schedule to keep as I found out going to my meeting in Longwood when I had to wait for more than half an hour for my ride w/o any explanation for the delay made available.  The Bostonians are quite patient I have to say as the average person in Tokyo does not easily tolerate transportation delays…

The "C" Green Line on Beacon Street was our line then and now.

Can this be the newest line? The Blue Line that goes through the Logan Airport looks clean and modern.

And just as NYC has the “MetroCard” or London the “Oyster Card“, Boston has the “Charlie Card“.
