Back to My Summer Trip and to Reims, France

16 10 2017

I have a few more write-ups on my trip to Europe in August.  The stop after Luxembourg City and a day trip to Trier, Germany was Reims, France in the Champagne region.

My ride from Luxembourg City to Reims

Arriving at the Reims train station very close to my hotel.

Left my luggage at the hotel and wandered around.

And lunch!!

Trier Eats

24 09 2017

From my day trip to Trier, Germany on one August day.

Wasn’t planning to but how can I pass a soft-serve?!

Local sparkling wine @ a pop-up shop in the middle of the main square. Wine manufacturers apparently take turns setting up shop throughout the year. All wines extremely reasonably priced.

Fast forward to the end of the day in Trier. Before returning to Luxembourg City, needed properly to try some local wines. This was a very good choice.

The restaurant had two separate rooms and entrances. This looked more like the front and was much more modern.  I was in the “back” room.

Yet More of Luxembourg City

1 09 2017

The second morning in Luxembourg City; another beautiful day.

And time for lunch.

And some supermarket browsing.

Lunching in Luxembourg City

22 08 2017

I had not decided where to get lunch on my first day out in Luxembourg City which is not what I normally do on my holiday trips.  I did want something traditionally Luxembourg in terms of food and drinks.  I found the perfect restaurant on one of the main squares, the Place d’Armes, housed in a hotel.

Trying out a local bubbly

Beautiful

Looking out to the Dicks-Lentz Monument

A nice vibe at lunch time

Great bread

My homemade sausage and mash. The sausage was traditional I was told.

Strawberry sorbet? I forgot as it wasn’t great 😦

A Walk, Breakfast & to Supermarket! in the Bonnevoie Neighborhood

15 08 2017

The neighborhood of Luxembourg City I am staying in is called Bonnevoie just southeast of the central station.  The morning after I arrived, I went out in search of breakfast and grocery.

Empty streets everywhere. Sunday morning it was but I believe it has more to do with the very small population of the city.

Where I was planning to get breakfast. Closed for the summer of course.

Very good pain au chocolat. The rhubarb quiche was unexpectedly too sweet.

Off to the local supermarket, Cactus.

Luxembourg wines

And bubblies

On the way back along a different route.
