Upside Down Marseille

20 07 2017

Right in the heart of the “old port” of Marseille, there is this interesting pavilion of sort that gets people looking up as they pass below it.  It was situated right in front of my hotel room.  This was my view.

Street performance (close to the bottom of the pic) going on underneath the pavilion.

Pretty neat!

Lunching in Marseille

19 07 2017

I had made a lunch reservation well in advance at this elegant one Michelin starred restaurant in Marseille to eat there the day after we arrived in the port city.  It was very much worth the effort.  Everything was perfect including the restaurant’s modern take on Marseille’s signature dish of bouillabaisse.

The entrance is next to a loud souvenir shop and is quite inconspicuous in contrast if you don’t know it’s there.

My view

A modern take of the rouille sauce and bread combo normally soaked in the bouillabaisse.

More of the view of my rose wine ^^

Walking in Marseille, France, Part 2

18 07 2017

From the Marseille Cathedral vicinity and still within a very easy reach, we went to check out the Saint-Laurent Church.  There was a service going on so we sat in the congregation listening to the French sermon.

Walking in Marseille, France, Part 1

17 07 2017

At the beginning of June, 2017, I was in the south of France on business.  I started writing about it but got sidetracked into writing about my trip to LA/SF that was happening in real time.  So here I am back to Marseille.

This was the first morning after arriving.  Breakfast in the hotel, a casual walk in the neighborhood including going up to the cathedral, unfortunately closed for when I was there for renovation.

In Marseille, France, in a Room with a View

27 06 2017

Earlier in June, I did my annual trip to Cannes, France for the 25th time.  On the way in, I stopped by Marseille for the first time for some fun and business (well, mostly fun).

Arriving in the evening, I was pleased with my lovely hotel room with a view.  It started pouring as soon as we went out for dinner but soon we were greeted by a rainbow.  Dinner was nice and light.  The walk back to the hotel was very pleasant.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

12 08 2016

Or more precisely, I have left on a jet plane and am currently in transit in Paris on my way to Reykjavik, Iceland.  What a relief to be getting away to some place cooler than Tokyo for my brief summer holiday.
