This is the final post for my visit to Luang Prabang, Laos between February 27 and March 2, 2016.
Just random random shots…
We use the term “nori” for our (Japanese) dried seaweed that is commonly used in wrapping rolls of sushi or onigiri.
They have something similar called “kai phaen” in Luang Prabang, Laos though it is much more strongly seasoned which reminded me more of the Korean variety of nori.
I had to try it so had it for my second lunch after the noodles on the day I was leaving Luang Prabang.
Served with “tsukudani” like condiment
My favorite activity on any trip: going to the local food market to check out what people sell, buy and eat. This is the “morning market” in Luang Prabang, Laos.
I really wanted to buy from one or more of these stalls but I had a big lunch earlier in the day and it was still around 6 pm when I visited this section of Luang Prabang so decided against getting anything despite my desire.
