Visiting Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

29 09 2015

Frankly speaking and it’s not just me but it is more of a consensus that there is not much to see in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital city of Brunei, an Islamic Sultanate surrounded by Malaysia.  However, this, built for Omar Ali Saifuddien III, the father of the present Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, “Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque” is a beautiful and a picturesque building.

I was pleased that non-Muslims were allowed inside (just so that I could take a look inside) and women and men in the same area.

Budapest’s Museum of Applied Arts

28 10 2011

I am not much of a museum goer and I prefer seeing architecture to art.  The Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest was just right for me because the building itself was beautiful inside and out and the kind of “art” it presented was things people used in everyday life such as furniture, tableware, stationery, and other lifestyle goods which I find quite fascinating.

Sometimes we never notice what we’re walking on until we look closely.  Some of it can be really beautiful.  Here is small collection from Budapest.
