Dining Out in Marseille

31 07 2017

The big lunch day in Marseille finished with a light but splendid seafood dinner at Chez Roger.

The view from our table.

My obligatory glass of rose.

Our seafood platter.

With great bread.

That’s all we had (and the dessert of course).

My lovely vodka soaked lemon sorbet.

Walking in Marseille, France, Part 3

30 07 2017

Back to writing about my trip to the south of France in early June.  The walk in Marseille continues after a lovely lunch.

We took a local bus up to the picturesque church on a hill.

On the way back we took the more touristy ride.

After chillin’ out in the hotel bar, went out for a light pleasant dinner.

The Final Hours in Pudong, Shanghai

28 07 2017

The main purpose of my recent China trip was to attend an anime event that was being held in Shanghai.

And after all that was done, we had a big party for all involved.

This went on until after midnight.  Feeling still a little full the next morning, I went down for breakfast much later than normal as I had the whole morning free and did not plan to go out.

Sunday morning in Shanghai. Lots of ships going down the river.

And off to the airport.

Goodbye Shanghai until September.

To Supermarket! in Pudong, Shanghai

25 07 2017

There was a small supermarket near my hotel in the not-so-central Pudong district of Shanghai to which I paid a visit.  Small but still packed with fun.

China produced (grape) wines

Traditional Chinese (rice) wines sold in huge plastic bottles

A big selection of cooking oils

Different kinds of sauces and oils

Coconut juice

Eating in Shanghai (Inbetween Work)

23 07 2017

Soon after we arrived at our hotel in the Pudong district of Shanghai, we went out for our first dinner in central Shanghai, crossing the river to the other side.

The elevator hall on my floor in the hotel.

Arriving at the restaurant.

Just a few dishes out of many more we had…

The following morning the view from my 21st floor room and it looks very hot which it was.

Breakfasting

Hotel public area

Off to work at 8:30 am at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

And back to the hotel and we break for lunch.  I checked the temperature.

Looked dangerous but I went out anyway.

Empty street! Maybe because it was a Saturday? Or because of the heat?

Time for lunch

Lunch is served.

Behind that cupboard which is actually a sliding door into and from which people kept coming and going, I saw a mahjong table, a game which you don’t generally need to hide to play. I suspect customers were betting cash. ^^
