Shabu Shabu in a Basket

I had a party to attend in a restaurant in Akasaka last week.  Contrary to my expectations, it was a bit more formal.

And I arrived late and last.

The main dish was shabu shabu, a hot pot dish you would normally cook at the table as shown here but the “pot” in this case was made of bamboo with a white sheet of paper like thing lining the bamboo container that kept the soup from leaking. And it worked. Wow
