Leaving on a Jet Plane

30 04 2016

I left Tokyo yesterday so this is already the second day of my current trip having had an overnight transit at Incheon International Airport, one of the largest airline hubs in East Asia, near Seoul, Korea.

The end of April/the first week of May is a huge vacation period for Japan and this year while not all days of the so-called “Golden Week” are national holidays, the company I work for is closed for 10 consecutive days.  All seats on the Keisei Skyliner I took to Narita were sold out and mine was one of the last ones.  Phew.  The airport was extremely busy as well.

This hotel is situated inside the International Terminal at Incheon, after immigration and securities if you're coming from inside Korea. If you're in transit, you do not enter the country but stay inside the terminal.

It's a huge airport.

From this morning. It’s a huge airport as you can tell from the number of gates it has.

So that covered the sushi bit.  Now the movies.  Wow.  So many good ones, new and old, deep and funny.

As for music, different genres, lots of in-stores.

For the funniness I choose this French film as my film of the month.

Strawberry flavor always feels like April.

From a proper fruit shop. Note the strawberries behind.

From a much more casual convenience store.

Afghan Dining in Tokyo

27 04 2016

My two good friends and I tried an Afghan restaurant a couple of weeks ago as part of our monthly experience of “eat-the-world” in Tokyo get-together.

The restaurant offered Asian dishes that were not necessarily Afghan as well but we tried to stick to our theme though the cheese platter had nothing to do with that.  And the seared lamb seemed a bit more Japanese than Afghan.

Became packed quickly.

The main dining room became packed quickly. There was more seating in the back with tables and chairs.
