A Belated Birthday Celebration

20 11 2014

My best friend and I had promised each other that we would do a birthday celebration together, having been born in the same month of the same year and this year somewhat marking a momentum.  Well, we were busy and it got delayed but finally we did it.  Yesterday for lunch, we went out and celebrated and loved it.

Thank you, Ken! The 1988 DP was a gift to my father from someone which my mother kept thinking it would be appropriate to open when I got married. She gave up some (long) time ago and told me to take it home so I did. This year’s birthday seemed more appropriate than others since my best friend and I together are 100. 😀

It was slightly still bubbly but mostly gone making it more like white wine. At first a bit too complicated but it got better.

Very interesting. The Brits like old champagne, but most of the ones I’ve tasted are a bit madeirized (whether you like them or not probably depends on how you feel about sherry). Fortunately the few examples that have come my way have still had a fair amount of carbonation, which helps a lot. In either event, happy birthday again! Ken

Yes, sherry! That’s what it tasted like at first. I have not had dry sherry for ages so had forgotten how to describe the taste. Thank you for pointing that out!!
