The Sanssouci Palace, Potsdam

21 09 2014

My friend Antje took me after lunch on the day I arrived in Berlin to the elegant Sanssouci Palace, the former Prussian King’s summer residence in Potsdam, part of East Germany before the wall came down.  And we just happened to visit on the day of Potsdamer Schlössernacht 2014 or Potsdam’s Palaces by Night which was rather interesting because of all the lights and other props they had set up for the occasion.

The entire park lit up with these lights for the occasion.

The weather was not great but nature in drizzly rain isn’t too bad.  As for the palace, we did not go inside which was just as well as it just would have been too overwhelming.
