“Rynek Underground” Under the Main Square of Krakow

15 09 2014

I thought it was fascinating when I learned that there was a history museum housed underneath the main square of the Old Town of Krakow.

The entrance to the museum is at the far end of the "Cloth Hall" on left.

The museum is apparently quite new, opened only in 2010, after an extended archeological study of what lay underneath the current surface of the square including discovering that the surface used to be much lower and that it got elevated during the last few hundred years.
