While I do not play the piano or listen to a lot of classical music despite my line of work, I did wish to visit this museum managed by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw to pay respect to the great composer who is ever so popular in Japan.
2015 is when the next very competitive Chopin Competition will take place and there will be lots of coverage in Japan. Here are some of our favorites of his compositions. Sorry if you cannot buy the album at the link because the product is available only in Japan; you can still listen to snippets. One of the performers, Ewa Poblocka is a Polish pianist and a former winner and a regular judge at the competition.
I also went to see the huge statue of Chopin at the Lzaienki Park on the following day.
It’s very interesting how his face has been depicted in so many different ways so much so that if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t recognize they are of the same person.
