An Afternoon Walk in Warsaw, Day 1, Friday, August 8th

11 08 2014

After enjoying a full lunch at Smaki Warszawy, went on a long walk to explore and discover Warsaw.  I got distracted a couple of times and ended up buying a pair of sandals and a sweater before I got to my destination, the Old Town.

It was a perfect day for walking.  First a stroll through the Saxon Garden.

This you saw everywhere, in memory of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. This years marks its 70th anniversary.

This or something similar, often much smaller, you saw everywhere with fresh flowers and candles, in memory of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. This years marks the 70th anniversary of the resistance movement.

Warsaw Uprising

Signs on the ground showing the border of the old Jewish Ghetto.  I realized I had come too far away from the center and too north of where I was intending to go when I saw these.  It was unintentional that I was walking on this street but that made my walk more interesting.
