Movies! in the Month of June, 2014

1 07 2014

Quite a few partly due to special screenings held at the National Film Center which is part of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.  I went to two of its “EU Film Days 2014” featured films.  I would have liked to see more had schedule (and weather) permitted.

My favorite of the month: Albert Nobbs starring Glenn Close playing the role of an Irish man who is actually a woman.

My daughter and I went to see 「ラストミッション」 (“3 Days To KIll”) just the day before yesterday…before it was the 1st of the month (July 1st), and movie tickets are only ¥1000 on that day each month.

It was a good movie.

I mistyped in the comment above.

I meant to write:

“…because it was the 1st of the month…”

That film was actually funny in a lot of ways. Did you notice (though I don’t actually know if it was meant to be that) the “Bodyguard” reference??

No, I didn’t…but I’m interested! Where was it?

I might be making this up and it may have been unintentional but there was a scene where Costner picks up the girl and carries her which looked exactly like when he carried Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard.

Oh, that’s right! I guess you’re talking about the part where he saved his daughter from the scuzballs in the restroom.

It is just like a scene in his movie “The Bodyguard”.
