Sushi in a Box

18 06 2014

There are a few different types of sushi you can get in Japan and apart from “nigiri” and “maki-zushi“, or more regional “oshi-zushi“, there is “chirashi-zushi” that is very popular.Ā  I like it because it can be so many flavors at once than just getting one kind of maki-zushi and I might get it over a nigiri assortment (which can also be many flavors) because it looks more fun. šŸ˜€

A chirashi boxed lunch I got yesterday from a supermarket on my way to work. They only make it available in the morning hours before 12 noon.

I need some of this in my sad, boxless-sushi life. Looks fresh and vibrant.

While nigiri is impossible to properly make at home, chirashi is more suitable so try!

Thanks. I will order this book! Looks great. Sushi and Japanese cooking are near and dear to my heart. There is so much to learn. We have a tradition: after I deliver a child (a labor of love!) my husband brings me great Japanese food to the hospital, including fresh sushi, miso soup and wakame salad. šŸ™‚

Sorry not sure if that link was helpful. On a closer look there are so many things that you probably could not get easily outside of Japan!
