This should have been part of the “May Eats” post but I had forgotten about the photos (most of which were not good enough to post) on my “other” iPhone.
I took a Finnish business friend to a special restaurant in the old neighborhood of Nezu for a Sunday lunch on the day she was going home to New York. The cuisine was kushiage and the restaurant is housed in a building that has been registered as a “tangible cultural property” by the Agency of Cultural Affairs.
As you can see, I do not have any photos of the great kushiage skewers we enjoyed. Pictured are a beetroot mousse, “ochazuke” with Japanese pickles, and a sesame-flavored blancmange with mango(?) sauce.
