I knew it was going to be a long day getting from work (yes, I did go into the office in the morning and it was very important that I did unfortunately for me) to Narita to Taipei to Hong Kong and onward to my final destination Macau in one go.
The Hong Kong leg was tricky because while you can go, if you arrive early enough and if a seat is available, on a direct ferry from the HK Airport to Macau w/o having to have to enter HK, I was not going to arrive before the last ferry. My solution was to go through HK immigration, go into the city, and take the HK-Macau ferry which runs 24 hours from there.
Though I had done all the research in advance, it was a little nerve-racking mostly due to “money” issues such as the HK Airport Express vending machine not taking credit card and the Macau money exchange at the ferry port being closed upon my arrival with no taxi taking anything but cash in local currency. But I guess anything is possible in a city that does not sleep. I managed and am now enjoying my very short stay.
