Entsuin, the Rose Temple

It would have been really nice if the maple trees were turning color in this lovely temple, Entsuin, in Matsushima but we were a little early for that. (Entsuin’s Japanese web page: http://www.entuuin.or.jp/index.html)

It is sometimes called the “Rose Temple”, because of the roses brought back from Rome in the 1600s by Hasekura Tsunenaga.
