Floating Houses

I have seen people living on water in the south of Viet Nam but it did not seem as though that was so much by choice.  In Amsterdam, however, it at least appears that people seem to be enjoying living on the boats though I would imagine them to be damp and the surrounding water to be rather unclean and not so unhygienic as the guide from the cheese excursion was expressing as his personal view.

This site gives you a different idea as some of the houseboats seem rather charming inside as well as outside.

I’ve taken a few photos of the more charming houseboats in Jordaan, the neighborhood I was staying in Amsterdam.

According to the aforementioned guide, these are very very expensive nowadays to buy as the government is no longer issuing permits for houseboats in the canals of Amsterdam.
