A nice colleague who is originally from Fukuoka, Kyushu, gave me a box of mentaiko from Hakata, and apparently not just any mentaiko but the best from Fukuya.
It’s supposed to be great with steamed rice but I don’t really cook or eat rice at home so I decided to adapt that shirasu recipe from the other day and have it for breakfast this morning.
Nice. No chili necessary for this as mentaiko is already spiced up and the kind I got sort of to the max.
And then for lunch I used the same mix for my fettuccine.
Very spicy. It felt more so than when I had it with the toast. Definitely need a glass of white wine. 😀
